The FloShield franchise of products is a system that
prevents the lens of the laparoscope from becoming
covered with debris or condensation.

The optical chain of laparoscopic visualization has improved dramatically over the year with HD cameras and monitors. However, up until FloShield, no technology has prevented these dramatic improvements from being defeated by the distal tip of the laparoscope accumulating condensation, smoke, tissue debris, or floating particles.

FloShield utilizes CO2 that already exists on the surgical field, to create a see-through vortex of air that prevents debris from accumulating on the lens, preserving the optics of a clean lens and allowing the video system to perform best. The Flo-X biocompatible wash system, now FDA approved, allows the lens to be flushed in situ without removal should debris penetrate the air flow, or should the lens be touched by tissue.
